What is the GERAS Centre?
The GERAS Centre, based out of Hamilton Health Sciences’ St. Peter’s Hospital, has emerged as a leader in fracture, frailty and dementia research since its foundation in 2013. Its strategic goal is to advance health care for seniors through education and research, which is achieved through the linking of research, practice and education for improvements at the point-of-care, wherever that may be.
Why is the GERAS Centre important?
The GERAS centre recognizes the fundamental link between research, practice and education. Our team is dedicated to accelerating the uptake of evidence that leads to improvements at the point of care, ultimately improving quality of life for seniors and families.
Furthermore, the GERAS Centre is well positioned to build innovation through collaborative ventures with McMaster University, primary care, community support services sectors, other specialty services and academic health centres across Canada. The Centre will continue to implement new programs and infrastructure to advance knowledge translation, interprofessional education, leading edge technologies, and health promotion models that benefit seniors and their families.

3. End-of-Life Care
These themes are supported by our strategic directions:
1. Innovative research targeting improved quality of life
