Dr. de Wit trained in internal medicine and emergency medicine in the UK. She has two postgraduate research degrees – a doctorate from Manchester and a masters from Ottawa. Her research focus in the UK was diagnosing thrombosis, and in 2010, moved to Ottawa for a Thrombosis fellowship. She now combines clinical work in Emergency and Thrombosis with research relating to anticoagulation.
Here in Hamilton, She has developed a niche research interest in the elderly. The elderly are the largest patient group in the emergency department and she aims to improve their quality of care.
“I research the benefits of anticoagulation and the risk of bleeding in the elderly. Just two ways to improve quality of life for seniors.”
