Dr. George Ioannidis is an Associate Scientific Director at the GERAS Centre and holds joint appointments in the Divisions of Geriatric Medicine and Rheumatology. He is a scientific advisory council member for Osteoporosis Canada, past member of Osteoporosis Canada’s Guidelines Committee, and has received the Osteoporosis Canada /Canadian Multicentre Osteoporosis Study Fellowship Award and the Procter and Gamble Travel Award. He has collaborated with many national and international thought leaders, community organizations, industry partners, health care professionals and patient/resident groups.
He specializes in the epidemiology of aging; falls, fractures and frailty; implementation and knowledge translation; statistics; and study design methodology. Dr. Ioannidis has authored 100 peer reviewed publications and over 250 abstracts, and presentations. He has mentored many research trainees in aging, and his career direction is to link research, clinical practice, education and knowledge translation activities to promote successful point of care improvements for patients. Dr. Ioannidis is passionate about improving the lives of older adults with chronic diseases through innovative research.
